Snow Art Windows for Magical Christmas Parties and Events

Creative corporate christmas party ideas using snow art graffiti windows

Looking for a creative idea for a Christmas party, corporate event or winter wedding? Live snow art transforms windows and glass into temporary works of art using fake snow spray. As a live event artist, I’m always looking for new ways to be creative, and I absolutely loved discovering what I could create with a simple can of fake snow! From fashion-inspired window graffiti to personalised family portraits, here’s how my snow art journey began and why I would love to create more…

HOW I ACCIDENTALLY BECAME A SNOW ARTIST

It all started when event and wedding planner Emma Murray-Jones invited me to create snow art for RSVP’s upcoming 2025 Christmas party at Park Hyatt London.

Emma initially asked me to create a simple snow scene, but I immediately knew I wanted to inject some of my own style and fashion flair into it.

SNOW GRAFFITI

Brilliant artist Scott Wilcock aka Snow Graffiti, whose work is absolutely mind-blowing, offers tutorials online as well as plenty of handy tips and hints. I ordered all the kit and started experimenting on my studio windows. They were soon filled with Christmas baubles, stars and branches, and I was hooked.

Within moments my studio was transformed into a snowy Christmas experiment.

I then moved onto our kitchen windows, where I created a very stylish skier who looked like she had just walked out of Vogue magazine.

The 3 easy steps: A quick line drawing using Pesco pens, followed by snow spray, which is then wiped away to reveal a rather stylish skier!

I was surprised by how quick and easy it is to create effective snow art, bearing in mind I wasn’t aiming for the incredible photorealistic look that Scott Wilcock has mastered so beautifully.

I was determined to stay away from snowy landscapes and more traditional Christmas scenes, and instead continue the style I’ve developed over the years through my work as a live event artist: contemporary, playful and stylised, with a little fashion influence thrown in.

CORPORATE X-MAS PARTY IN LONDON

For the RSVP Christmas party, I focused on one area, as the windows at Park Hyatt are huge and there are so many of them!

My snow art was inspired by the dancers from The Girly Show, who provided the entertainment on the night.

As a live event artist I specialise in painting people, so I wanted to use those skills in my snow art. I particularly enjoy creating patterns.

The fabulous entertainment that evening was provided by The Girly show, so I based the snow art on the beautiful dancers, depicting them in my own style in snow. I added text and branches to complete the composition and bring in a little Christmas spirit.

Pretending that DJ Lucy is in da house!

Working on such a large scale was more time-consuming than I had expected, so I kept the design around the DJ booth quite simple. I think it added a really lovely touch to the space.

Snow art looks so different at night when it’s dark outside. It’s fascinating to watch the transformation.

YOUR PET IMMORTALISED IN SNOW

By now, I was fully in the Christmas spirit, so next I created a snowy scene on my friend’s kitchen windows, based on a photograph of her son on a skiing holiday. And of course, dog Benji had to make an appearance too!

PANTO SNOW ART

I’m a huge fan and supporter of our local Theatre Royal Winchester – you can read more about that in this blog post – so naturally I headed there next with my snow sprays and tools.

That year’s panto was Puss in Boots, so I sprayed the main character onto the theatre windows for theatre-goers and passers-by to enjoy, while also helping the theatre promote the panto.

SOME HANDY SNOW ART TIPS

It goes without saying that it is a good idea to wear a face mask when spraying fake snow and make sure you use the right tools. They’re available online from Scott’s website, but I also discovered that erasers work brilliantly for creating detail, as do a few unexpected kitchen utensils!

Remember that you can play with positive and negative, especially when it comes to creating baubles. I discovered that a roll of masking tape works perfectly if you want to create just the round shape and leave the surrounding area untouched.

If you have sprayed the window white, you can use a glass to press circles into the snow, or use a plate before you spray, to create the perfect circle.

I use Posca acrylic pens to draw the outline and composition first (lines are an important element in my work as a live event artist), but this is not essential. I also use the pens to add detail or write words.

A LITTLE WARNING

I discovered through trial and error that there is some dreadful fake snow available online. It probably works perfectly well for spraying snow onto a Christmas tree, but it doesn’t necessarily have the right consistency for creating snow art.

I’ve also found that the temperature inside and outside, as well as humidity, can affect how the snow behaves, so it’s always worth doing a quick test first. Snow Graffiti sprays are a little more expensive, but they are of high quality and shouldn’t cause any problems.

Remember to shake the can well before use!

HOW TO CLEAN FAKE SNOW OFF WINDOWS

Fake snow is incredibly easy to clean off windows. A sponge and some soapy water will remove it easily. Even acrylic posca pens wipe off without much effort.

If you wish, the snow art can last for weeks. My friend kept hers well into the New Year! As long as nobody rubs against it, it really does last a long time.

CHRISTMAS PARTY IDEAS

I think it would be lovely to create a full family portrait in snow, and yes, that can absolutely include cats and dogs!

It could even be created live during a Christmas drinks party, allowing guests to watch the artwork magically appear on the windows throughout the event.

Corporate Christmas parties are perfect for live snow art too. Not only are guests entertained by watching the artwork being created, but unlike many forms of event entertainment, the finished snow art can remain on the windows long after the party has finished.

Furthermore, the snow art can feature on your own Christmas card, or why not have your photo taken in front of it and share with your friends, family and colleagues.
